DALLAY

DALLAY
Dallay is the name of a Habanero chilly which is mostly found in the north eastern part of India and also in near by countries. It is known for its distinct flavor and spiciness.
Headed to this place for trying something different other than Momo from our own north eastern cuisine.
Being a vegetarian there are very limited options to try out.
 SHORT REVIEW:
Service-3.8/5
Food-3/5
Ambiance- 4/5
Parking- Problematic specially for 4 wheeler s.
Order: Veg Phallay and Wai wai chowmein.
Verdict: Only going for momo trial.
Wallet size: Decreased by 220/-

LONG POST:

Understaffed; in terms of service but, the man who was serving and taking orders was courteous and swift enough to do his duty.
Order:
VEG PHALLAY: Two huge stuffed flat refined flour based breads deep fried served with green chilli garlic chutney.
The filling contained lots of chopped cabbage and onions with a little salt. Not my type.
Very bland in taste and just a tummy filler.

WAI WAI CHOWMEIN: Description said it was special Nepalese noodles. As soon as the order arrived seeing the quantity i was shocked, it would just not be enough even for one. Taste wise nothing extra-ordinary it almost tasted like a Maggie which would be literally cooked in 2 mins. The same masala except few veggies, some dallay and topped with chopped onions and cabbage(the same mix of the phallay)

The orders which were ordered by neighborhood tables too had less quantity,so did not take a risk to go for more.
Finally left the place with no reviews asked no thank you said.

Will go again to just try their momos as they are having great reviews on it.
Lets see if they can satisfy my tasty buds.

*note: based on personal visit and my personal experience. No offence for any outlets. I pay my own bills.

JONAH'S MEETS CHEF WILLI

Had heard great reviews abt this place and since it was a spcl day for me decided to dig into it.
Its a bistro(small inexpensive resto) as well as a patisserie. Finally found a place to be in my collection of favourites.
Ambience: Plush blue velvet sofas, creatively done interiors.
Service: Can be more improved in terms of refilling the water as summers have headed.
FOOD: Appealing,Ambrosial,Delectable,Delicious,Divine,Luscious.
Order: Moroccan Salad with Dates
           Garlic bread-with molten mozzerala
           Mexican Lazy lasagna
           Caramels shaped Ravioli
           Chicken Lentil soup.
Parking:  Valet available
Wallet Size: Reduced by Rs.1731/-(including taxes) happily, satisfactorly.

Location of this place is quite in the interiors of the main roads, which leads to a hustle bustle free atmosphere,a must for such a place.
Being a sunday the place was pretty filled @ around 8pm. We were 3 of them & were alloted the Plush sofa's(in love with the velvet blue). As always , prefered regular chilled water and the menu was there for our tummy guidance.

A friend ordered chicken lentil soup & moroccon salad with dates.
I asked for suggestion in main course, the person taking the order suggested to go for the mexican lazy lasagna (as it had quantity sufficient for two) & the second main course was Caramels shaped ravioli which was my choice. Later I just ordered garlic bread with mozzeralla as i was am in search of the best one.
Order delivery took very less time and all things came correctly in order (although had ordered the garlic bread later) without any haphazard.
Garlic Bread with melting Mozzeralla: Being a fan of garlic bread i never miss it out at any resto &
I love myself for ordering this master piece @ Jonah's. Cheesy juicy and perfectly baked bread. Perfectly loaded with garlic, olive oil and loads of fresh mozzeralla. First bite and its just heavenly.
GARLIC BREAD

Moroccon Salad with Dates: Had lemon honey dressing with chikpeas and loads of basil, parsely and nuts. A bit of more lemon would make it a Masterpiece. Liked this version too. Fresh, healthy and filling.
MOROCCAN SALAD WITH DATES

Mexican Lazy Lasagna: Luscious taste with a mexican nacho crunch in every bite. Bites of Lush one after the other.

Caramels Shaped Ravioli: Its actually a Caramelle( stuffed pasta resembling double twist candy shape) with stuffing of basil, parmesan, spinach. It was a kind of soupy pasta. A unique mild flavorfull taste. Again a great dish.
Chicken Lentil soup: Have no idea about as i am a veggie-eggie eater. Friend said it was nice.

VERDICT: Definitely going again and again for all my special days.

The sauce or momo chutney - a spicy sauce made out of whole red chillies accompanied the momo well.

BOMBAY KULFI

BOMBAY KULFI
As summers are heading this place was in my wishlist. Kulfi the name itself makes me imagine a soft silky creamy texture of it made out of reducing milk to almost 1/3rd of its original volume. Its simply delicious as it is in its purest form.

Where: Bombay Kulfi, Adyar.
Order: Tender coconut natural ice cream
           Malai slice

           4-in-1 Rangeela.
Takeaway: Pista,Malai- slices
                  Strawberry litchi & Mango-chikoo sticks
Wallet size: Happily reduced by Rs.395
Service:" Atithi Devo Bhava"  . with a warm welcome to a warm & respectful & i guess the best service i have ever seen. Bow down to the gesture the owner offered. Offering your order, bill with so much respect, asking you how it is after every new order was so so so good no words can define that gesture.

Going to the kulfi's every bit is awsome. Somehow i did not like the tender coconut much as i have had a better version of it in mumbai. But rest all the kulfi's were the authentic bombay kulfi's.
I can say it is authentic as i have spend my most of the years in mumbai eating out these kulfi's.

Malai is my all time favorite. I usualy prefer having a mix version like we get back in my hometown but since they did not have that option i went for 4-in-1 and i was satisfied with that too.
Enjoyed every bit of it.
Takeaway kulfi's were also great as they had the original mango, strawberry, litche, chikoo flavors. Loved them to the cores.

Will be a regular visitor soon!!

OLIVE AND BASIL,ADYAR,CHENNAI

OLIVE & BASIL
OLIVE & BASIL
LOCATION OF DATING: ADYAR, CHENNAI
RESTAURANT/CAFE NAME: OLIVE AND BASIL
FOR: DINNER
CUISINES: THAI,CHINESE & FEW MORE
ORDER:Stir Fried veg momo's & Shanghai VEG fried rice.
SHORT REVIEW: AVERAGE FOOD AND AMBIENCE, GOOD SERVICE.

DETAILED REVIEW:
This was my first visit to this particular restaurant. Very attractive name & board-OLIVE AND BASIL.
The 1st thing in my mind reading the name was that it would be an italian restaurant as olives and basil are mostly used in italian preparations, but unfortunately the name is a misnomer.
The cuisines they offer are;THAI,CHINESE & FEW MORE.
Entrance of the restaurant is very good.
Ambience is also above average nothing special.
Lets go to food...My order: Stir Fried Momo's (Veg-100rs)-8 pieces
                                           : Veg Shanghai Rice-(120rs)-serves 2
Stir Fried Momo's-Honestly speaking i did not like it as i have had it at other small kiosk too where the taste was much much better than what i had. The momo had a stuffing of cabbage, paneer as major ingredient but the cover of it was uncooked to some extent. Taste wise it was bland.
Accompaniment was a red color housemade sauce which was at no level matching to the authentic momo sauce it was like a sweet salsa sauce.

Veg Shanghai Rice- As written in the menu description it was a combination of rice and noodles.
But almost nil amount of noodles and more of rice. Taste wise nothing exceptional just red coloured rice with a normal taste. Very less chinese taste. Infact the stir fried taste was missing. Pretty ordinary food. Less amount of veges too.

VERDICT: BUDGET FRIENDLY but not upto the mark. Restaurant name is a misnomer.
Will try again only if no option available.
BILL AMOUNT :Rs. 231/- including only service charge.
